I feel privileged to learn from Amy. She has a clear grasp of the body and its systems, and yet teaches in a way that is not over my head and keep it interesting. She has many examples of successes with clients that she shares to illustrate the amazing power and potential of reflexology.
Amy is also a Member of the Reflexology Association of America (RAA) and the Reflexology Association of Iowa (RAIA). Amy encourages new and established practitioners to join their state association and the RAA, and to complete certification through ARCB®. More information about ARCB®, NCRE, RAA, and RAIA is listed below.
She has led certification coursework in Iowa for more than 7 years and continuing education (CE) coursework for more than 10 years. She taught classes at Genesis Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Black Hawk Community College, and the Institute for Therapeutic Massage & Wellness (ITMW). She has trained hospice RNs and CNAs in life transition palliative reflexology care and also taught care techniques to family caregivers. She has served clients in eastern Iowa and the Quad City area for more than 20 years.
Amy says, “Instructing my students with hands-on courses to refine their own reflexology techniques is both fun and rewarding!”
As an educator…
Through The Footbridge, Amy offers a certification series of reflexology classes, as well as class offerings which focus on specialized techniques or additional training. The Level 1 Claire Marie Miller Integrative Reflexology® seminar is prerequisite for all other coursework offered through The Footbridge, and is available through The Footbridge twice a year.
Each of the class modules offered through The Footbridge is also available as a 2-day seminar – including a 16 CE course of study for massage therapists and other healthcare professionals. Available course modules include:
I give the Integrative Reflexology program that Amy teaches five stars! I love her hands-on approach, her openness and availability for Q&A, and her ability to think outside the box.
Amy embodies what she teaches as an instructor and a mentor. I’m blown out of the water by her skills as a reflexologist, her teaching tenacity, and the hundreds of continuing education hours she has put in. She has ignited a fire for me to continue down my reflexology path.
As a practitioner…
Amy is in private practice in association with the Natural Health Improvement Center of the Quad Cities (NHIC) in Bettendorf, IA. She specializes in Integrative Reflexology® care for early onset neuropathy brought on by surgery, chemotherapy, or other personal health conditions, as well as plantar fasciitis.
Her practice also includes palliative reflexology for people challenged by chronic or terminal health issues such as diabetes, ALS, RA, or cancer. Stress reduction and relaxation are also included in her sessions with clients.
One of her favorite aspects of her practice is encouraging clients to understand how to mindfully integrate reflexology into their health care maintenance. In her own personal health journey, Amy has utilized complementary and alternative therapies — in conjunction with standard medical practices — for over 55 years.
